Chega! Women for Peace – A Manual to Understand the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security and Chega! Report in Timor-Leste

Authors/editor(s):  Suzanna George, Laura Faludi, Galuh Wandita and Maria Manuela Leong Pereira.

“Chega! Women for Peace” is a training manual developed by NGO Asosiasaun Chega! Ba ita (ACbit) with inputs from Timorese women, the technical support of UN Women and funded by the Government of Japan.

Designed for adult learners, it provides trainers & leaders with culturally appropriate tools and expertise to deliver the principles of two important documents on peace building in Timor-Leste; The National Action Plan (NAP) on the UN Security Resolution 1325 (Women, Peace and Security) and the Chega! Report (the final report of Timor-Leste’s Truth and Reconciliation Reception). The manual also compliments other training manuals which focus on the transmission of more specific skills in leadership, mediation and conflict resolution, and trauma healing.

““Chega! Women for Peace” can be rolled out in schools and communities in partnership with Asosiasaun Chega! Ba ita. For more information on the manual and how to deliver it amongst peers, please contact Director of ACbit Manuela Leong Pereira: naromahon@gmail.com

About ACbit

The saying “Chega Ba Ita” underlines our belief that the CAVR report was written based on the experiences and voices of the people, for the people. It is not a document that should be shelved and forgotten. It is a living document to be understood, debated, and re-invented for generations to come.
