Between March and April 2022, ACbit have facilitated three Microenterprise Development trainings for a total of 75 women micro-entrepreneurs in Dili.
Collaborated with focal points, ACbit implemented the training for 24 women micro-entrepreneurs in Balibar, Dili on 24-25 March 2022, and for 24 women micro-entrepreneurs in Farol, Dili on 29-30 March 2022.
On 7-8 April 2022, ACbit collaborated with focal points and Empreza Diak to facilitate the same training for new participants consisting of 27 women micro-entrepreneurs in Farol, Dili.
Among the 75 participants were women survivors of past conflict, victims of gender base violence, family of women survivors, and women from the community in general who all run their small businesses.
The aim of these trainings was to support the women micro-entrepreneurs by improving their capacity in managing their small business, managing their finance, improving the quality of their products, and marketing their products. The trainings were also aimed to increase their confidence in managing and developing their business into a sustainable income source.
All of the participants felt happy to have a chance of learning through the training.
Elvira Alves de Jesus Fernandes, a woman survivor from Dili said, “I felt really happy. Even though this is my first time to participate in this training, but I had learned many things. I will apply the lessons in my business and also share them to other women micro-entrepreneurs. If there is any training like this in the future, don’t forget to contact us again.”
Felismina do Rego, a woman that runs a local business in Dare, Dili said, “I appreciate ACbit because, with this training, I can learn what I didn’t know. Also, all lessons that I learned from this training can help solve the problems that I faced in my business. Among all of the lessons that I have learned, I really like the business management and operational planning because, when we want to start the business, we need to have a good business plaining.”
The trainings were parts of the Reforsa Hamutuk project, a project funded by the European Union and implemented by Hivos, ACbit, and Fokupers to promote social inclusion and economic development of women survivors and victims of violence in Timor-Leste.
